What is the correct way to charge battery packs for XBOX 360 controllers?
My battery packs won’t hold a charge anymore and I’ve gone through 3 of them.
Rechargeable batteries will eventually wear out. But the best thing to do to keep them healthy for the longest possible time is to drain them all the way before recharging. Meaning, let your controller die before popping it back on the charger.
The reason is because those batteries are nickel-metal hydride. They have the ability to develop what is called “Battery Memory”. If you use the battery for say 25% of its juice…then it has 75% left. If you keep recharging it after only using around 25% of its power it will develop a “memory” and think it only needs to charge 25% tops. This is what kills rechargeable batteries.
