saw this film years ago, he was on the run from someone and hid down a hidey hole and used a bow and arrow made from a sharpened stick and a rabbit to shoot the guy when he looked down the hole (bit gory sorry 
) but its driving me nuts trying to remember what film it was.
It crossed my mind that it might be “‘Man Friday” (1975), a version of “Robinson Crusoe” in which O’Toole plays Crusoe and Richard (“Shaft”) Roundtree as Friday.

I haven’t seen this movie for 35 years and actually recall very little about it, so I can’t say why I suggested this. It seems the sort of film that it might occur in. I doubted that it would be “Zulu Dawn” or “Lord Jim”, for example.
