Why is graphite used in lead pencils and diamonds in cutting tools?
please explain 
Both graphite and diamond are composed entirely of carbon, its all about the bonds between the carbon atoms.
But to answer your question, graphite is use in pencils because lead is poisonous and graphite it strong, but kinda comes off in layers due to its structure.
Diamonds are just really strong, so if your trying to cut some of the strongest materials in the world, theres really no other choice.
