What size drill bit do I need to drill a 1/4 in. hole?
I am installing a toilet paper holder and the 1/4 in. drill bit I have looks like it will swallow the anchors that came with it. Should I use a smaller bit?
Raychel,
turn your drill bit updise down and place it vertically standing on a piece of paper. With pen or pencil, draw a ring around the base of the drill bit; following the contour of the bit. Then compare the cirle to the cirle on the anchor (same process for the anchor). The anchor should be very slighlty smaller than the hole- not much though, you only want the anchor to stay put and not spin around when you try to put the screw in. Once you put the anchor into the hole and follow with the screw, it will expand the sides of the anchor and create a tight fit for the screw.
