Why do girls 12-15 years old want to date so badly?
They are not mature enough to even know how to act in public let alone be with a boy, especially an older boy. I raised two daughters who are now married with children (planned and in their 20′s before marriage or children.) Both had finished their college education. Neither of them dated before 16 and then only on “double dates.” They were allowed to go in groups at the age of 14 but no older boys and no cars. I’m sure there was the occasional “sneaking” out without our knowledge but they new the rules AND values we set down for them. Neither was any trouble, both were active in school both in sports and cheer leading, drill team, etc. Both were very popular and both were “A” students. Now they both have at least a daughter apiece and they say they will have the same rules. We were active, participating parents, too. I sometimes wonder today “…why do parents let their kids date at such young ages? ” It’s absolutely ridiculous. Sorry I got so long.
Sometimes I am greatful I don’t have any daughters as I think the whole dating situation would be a lot harder. I have 3 sons. They will not be allowed to date until they are at least able to drive. I don’t think I will mind them having girls over, as long as they are not alone in their bedrooms. They will definitely know that the sex is a serious thing and that we prefer them to wait until marriage or at least out of high school because there is no way in hell they are going to knock some girl up and then think there are no consequences. They will have to be just as involed as the girl. I hope that what we teach them will stick and if they do choose to have sex (because whether I like it or not I can’t monitor then 24/7) they need to have protected sex. My kids are still pretty young, but we very much plan on be very involved in their lives, as I think boundries, and family support is very important to their development. The problem theses days is parents want to seem cool and be their kids’ friends. They can’t seem to find a middle ground. I do not intend on making that mistake. Great job on raising wonderful kids’ I hope I can do as well.
