Can I cover up the trim – moulding – molding (between the carpet & walls) instead of replacing or painting?
Before I attempt to paint the “trim”/”moulding”/”baseboard?” (between the carpet & walls) of my son’s room… I have a couple of questions/concerns.
First of all, it is not in very good shape – splintering in some areas…broken in others…
Secondly, it would be pretty difficult to paint because I don’t know how I’d paint the entire way to the bottom edge with the carpet being in the way…
So – Is the trim at all easy or inexpensive to replace??? Or, could an option be to buy a slightly larger trim which can just be placed over the old stuff?

I would replace the molding. It can cost a lot depending on the size of the room and the type of molding you get. There is vinyl which is very inexpensive. Check in the wood department for plain wood trim. Not really used for molding. Looks just as good. Paint it before you install it. And joints just use wood putty, sand and then paint.
