My son just bought a socket set for his tool box. They include 8 and 16 point sockets.?
I would like to know why these sockets are the same size, but have 8 and 16 points of contact inside the socket. What is the need for this?
8 point sockets are for high torque they tend to be less likely to strip the nut or bolt.
16 point sockets make it easier to work in tight spaces however.
