Which online services offer the best print quality?
I’m looking for quality prints for under 30 cents per 4×6 (under 20 cents would be great), and am also interested in knowing what ppi the pics are printed at. I would like to be able to choose that the photos not be color enhanced.
I understand professional labs like WHCC are considered tops, but they are out of my range. I have seen several user recommendations on other boards for Mpix.com, and a comprehensive review from Cnet put Fujifilm.net at the top. But beyond that, most of the reviews are sketchy, and old.
So, for those of you who like a bit better quality, even for your family album, which online services do you prefer?
I have used Mpix.com for the last 2.5 years, and am not associated with them in any way as an employee, etc. I have used them for prints of all shapes and sizes from 4×6 to 20×30, and the service has been great. It looks like they meet your pricing qualifications (29 cents for 1-10 4×6′s, 24 cents for anything above that).
They accept large image files (TIFF), which was important for me when I printed larger files, and they allow you to store them online for up to 60 days, so if you need to reorder anything, you don’t have to waste time uploading. I sent in images that I edited on a calibrated monitor, and the results were really great. They also have really quick turnaround- mine usually ship within 24-36 hours, and when I ordered a run of close to 750 prints, they were boxed in groups of 50 with bubble wrap surrounding the boxes so they weren’t damaged during shipping. They also use Kodak Portra paper, one of those papers rated for long-term quality…other places I visited like Wal-Mart often don’t tell you what kind of paper you’ll get so it can be a little bit of a lottery.
