How do u work out size of an angle with sides 4cm and 10cm with a right-angle included?
Triangle PQR is a right-angled triangle. QR = 4cm and PR = 10cm. Work out the size of angle RPQ to 3 significant figures, how do you work it out?
Find PQ.
Since PQR is a right angled triangle, PQ is the hypotenuse.
PQ = [(4^2)+(10^2)]^1/2 = 10.77
Use the sine rule.
Since a / sinA = b /sinB = c/sinC, PQ/sinPRQ = QR/ sinRPQ and angle PRQ = 90′
10.77/sin90′ = 4/sin RPQ
sin RPQ = 4/10.77
RPQ = 21.8′
