How to get out this hopeless circle screw head?
I want to take apart my laptop for cleaning up and upgrading cpu, but one screw in the back case panel and there is a bit long small entrance to the screw also, the only last one I have to get out (phillips head/ cross head) was misshaped so I tried different screwdrivers and end up not moving a millimeter but instead a Circle screw head now…What can I do to take it out safely….?
What you needed was a “security bit” which comes in a small set and includes most of the weird shapes.
At this point you can only try using an EZ-OUT. It is a tap-shaped little extractor that fits into the screw head (even a misshapen rounded one) and will catch in there as you turn it counterclockwise with a tap wrench.
Get a small set of them and use the one that is the right size to go into that head. Turn it slowly (CCW) to get it out.
Replace it with a regular small screw when you are done.
