What material to use for building a computer case?
I’m looking for a material to build a computer case out of, preferably made of metal (like an Erector set, minus all the extra parts). The outside of the case I intend to make of plexiglass, but I want a sturdier frame inside that won’t retain heat like plexiglass and would be good for airflow. I don’t have the tools or space (or okay with mouse squeak noise neighbors) to cut my own from sheet metal. I’ve already looked places like performance-pc.com for anything at all, but all I’m finding is modding materials, no scratch. I can’t frankenstein a motherboard tray into what I want because I aim for a non standard form factor.
The short: a place to buy Erector set pieces (all straight bar pieces) or an equivalent
or
if there is already an existing case modding set that would cover this base
