How much time do you have to commit to IB?
hey guys im looking into IB as a high school program and i want to know if its really as time consuming as the internet sets it out to be. i do get frustrated easily when work becomes overconsuming and i want to know if its really worth the trouble? also if you can get into ivy league schools off a local schools education with AP classes. i hope to become an engineer so i was wondering columbia, MIT, Duke, harvard, Cornell, carnagie mellon
It is *extremely* time consuming. I’m not gonna lie. I felt it was worth it, though, as college-prep if nothing else. IB might give you an edge if you want to get into those schools – I believe there were two people in my graduating class going to Harvard and they were both in IB.
It’s a long, arduous journey, but ultimately worth it for someone with your aspirations. And if you don’t get into an Ivy league school, then you’ve still gone through two years of college prep, so it’s not all for naught.
IB is, I think, actually easier than AP but just as impressive, if not more so. IB rewards you for what you know; AP punishes you for what you don’t know.
However, it’s not like there’s no room for fun in IB. If you learn time management, there will be time for friends and social activities.
