What is the magnitude of the average net force that acts on the box during the collision?
Working principle here is that
Impulse = change in momentum
F(delta T) = M(Vi – Vf)
where
F= force involved
delta T = time = 8.1 ms = 0.0081 sec.
M = mass of the box = 31 kg
Vi = initial velocity = 250 m/sec.
Vf = final velocity = 0
Substituting values,
F(0.0081) = 31(250 – 0)
F = 31(250)/0.0081
F = 956,790.1 N
