Why does a number to the power of half equal its square root?
I’ve forgotten why.

A number to the “x” power multiplied by the same number to the “x” power…
…equals that number to the “x+x” power
Note: want a simple example? 10 to the third power (one thousand) times 10 to the third power (one thousand) – - equals one million, which is 10 to the sixth power
So, any number – - we’ll say Q, to the one-half power – - times Q, to the one half power – - equals simply Q (to “the one power”, which is, by definition, Q itself)
So, 5 equals “25, to the one-half power” which is the same thing as saying that 5 is the SQUARE ROOT of 25.
