Is there a power tool for floor Grout removal?
Have 1/4 inch floor grout that needs to be redone is there a power tool to do this? Not a drentel or anything like that its much to slow. Would a skil saw with a masonry blade work for this? How much needs to be removed or how thick does the new grout need to be so that it will stay in place?
There are a number of possibilities, one of which you may have seen on TV, the Fein Multimaster, and there seems to be a BUNCH of manufacturers rushing to copy it as I have seen lower priced versions from Craftsman and others popping up all over the place. If it’s a big job, it *might* be worth it, but if it’s a one shot deal and not a large amount to be done, the *manual* grout removal tools should do. There are pictures of several different styles in the links. The second link is the Fein Multimaster type of tool which oscillates at high speeds rather than turning. The last link is a rotary type of tool mounted on a Dremmel, and there are other methods and tools as well.
