Drilling Accessories Make Everything Easier
With the huge variety of power drills on the market from completely cordless to small and lightweight, the demand of drilling accessories for each different model continues to grow. Accessories are not only cool little gadgets to have around but they can take hours off the time spent on any project since they can do just want you need without having to work around your standard drill capabilities.
One of the most important drilling accessories is the actual drill bits themselves. While you can go with a standard drill bit you may also want to consider carbide tipped drill bits that are perfect for drilling through those difficult surfaces. Carbide tipped drill bits are ideal for those projects that require holes be made through blocks, brick and concrete types of surfaces. There are also multi material types of bits that are great if you need to drill through tile, ceramic, marble, gypsum, limestone, plastics or even slate types of materials. Of course these same bits are ideal for wood and hold a good edge for longer lifetime use.
Another key drilling accessory that is great with most of the 3/8 inch or larger types of drills are hole cutters. These typically come in a kit that includes the actual hole cutter attachment, a dust shield, hex adjustment wrenches as well as the glades, which can be metal or a combination of high speed metal and tungsten carbide. Many of the hole cutters are adjustable and are perfect for larger holes that need to be neat and professional looking.
For a handyman or professional that needs to make a lot of variable sized holes but doesn’t have time to change out drill bits a step drill bit is the perfect answer. These conical shaped drill bits have different steps or levels that allow you to drill up to as many as 12 different hole diameters. These bits come in a variety of sizes starting with a small sized hole as tiny as 3/16th and going up to over one inch. Each particular bit will have a set step size that makes it easy to tell when you are at the correct position on the bit for the desired hole diameter.
Extension types of drilling accessories are a lifesaver when it comes to drilling through thick surfaces or materials. These extensions can be longer than 12 inches in length, giving you a much longer drill possibility over a traditional bit. There are several different hex shank extension sizes so you do have to know the size of your drill or use the appropriate adapter.
Drill bits specifically for different surfaces, as opposed to the multi surface or multi material types of bits, can also be a great addition to your drilling accessories. Spade bits, which are great for drilling larger diameter holes in wood are great for boring into even the most difficult of places. These specialized types of wood bits can be purchased individually or in a handy set that comes complete with a carrying case. Cases are a good idea since it saves you from constantly having to stop and locate a bit in your tool box, all you have to do is open the case and select the size you need.
Having the right drilling accessories is just good business. It makes your projects go much smoother and quicker and also prevents mistakes and inaccurate holes if you are trying to use just the standard types of drill bits.
